Abstract. Purpose: Adenosquamous pancreatic cancer represents 0.9-4.4% of exocrine pancreatic neoplasms and is generally thought to be associated with a worse prognosis than the more common ductal adenocarcinoma. The aim of the current study is to describe the outcome of patients with adenosquamous pancreatic cancer in our institution who were managed in a multidisciplinary environment.

Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the pancreas is a rare unusual variant of pancreatic cancer. It is estimated to have an incidence of ∼1–4% of all pancreatic malignancies. 1 Histologically, these tumors consist of two components: glandular adenocarcinoma cells and at least 30% malignant squamous cell carcinoma. 1–3 Compared to the more common pancreatic Only 1 patient is still alive at 9 months after surgery, but has known residual cancer around his portal vein noted during palliative distal pancreatectomy. It is characterized by an admixture of adenomatous and squamous cell elements and Adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas (ASC) is a variant of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), but the prognosis remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to clarify the prognosis of ASC using a matched case-control design.
